Good Luck Charm (Book 1)

“3…2…1…” I told myself and flung open the door. No one was there, that was strange. I stepped outside to see if they were hiding behind one of the bushes, but tripped on something, I nearly fell down the stairs. Good think they invented railings, or I wouldn’t have had a firm grip on anything... “Perrie… you have a little bit more to worry about..." Danielle slowly said as she looked at the ground. There, on the ground was a large package, which looked full of something. On the outside it was clearly marked in thick, red marker: Leave the boys alone! If you contact them, I will hurt you.

1. Goodbye

Amber's point of view

I hugged him close, using his shoulder as a cover for my tears.

“I’ll miss you, Amber,” Niall whispered in my ear in his soft Irish accent.

“I’ll miss you too.” I didn’t let go of him, afraid that if I did, he’d be gone forever. I was breaking inside. “Don’t you dare come back a changed person,” I warned.

“I won’t, you know I won’t,” Niall comforted before prying from my hug. “Just ignore the paparazzi, they will leave you soon enough. Danielle, Eleanor and Perrie are always there if you need them… and I’m just a phone call, tweet or text away.”

“Okay,” I whispered in a barely audible voice and nodded my head.

He looked deeply into my eyes, and I looked in his. “You know I don’t like leaving you,” Niall said in a small, matter-of-fact tone.

“I know.” I nodded my head again, and then turned to see Louis, Liam and Zayn slowly leave their girlfriends.

“I have to go. I love you, and I always will.” Niall planted a small kiss on my cheek and hugged me one last time.

“I will love you too, my Little Leprechaun,” I answered and put on a weak smile as I let him go. “Have fun in America, and don’t forget to post those letters for me!”

“I won’t.” Niall slowly turned away and started to walk with the other boys. I watched him as he disappeared into the crowd, but not before he gave me a small wave. My heart melted.

“C’mon, Amber, let’s go get something to eat,” Danielle came up to me and said. She put her hand on my shoulder, as if to comfort me.

“Sure.” I turned around and faced the other girlfriends of One Direction. I felt small, and young. They were all so tall, so slim and so perfect. Then there was me… it was a miracle that Niall chose me.

“Okay,” Danielle said as she turned me towards the doors where the paparazzi where. They were flashing their cameras and shouting questions at us. It bugged me. Why did they have to be so insensitive?

“So, what are you up to Amber?” Eleanor asked me as we were sitting in a crowded ice cream parlour. It was our favourite place to go when we were feeling down.

“Completing school,” was my answer with a shrug. “Now since Niall’s gone, I don’t have an excuse anymore. My mom says I have to pass school over here, or she’ll force me to go back home.” I rolled my eyes and stirred my melting ice cream. When I was first with Niall my parents allowed me to move to London, so I could be closer to him, only on one condition: that I completed school and passed. It turned out to be harder than I bargained for.

“That’s always hard,” Perrie responded. “I’ll help I can, but I’m also busy with Little Mix and stuff. You know how it goes, right?”

                “Thanks, Perrie.”

“We will all help,” Eleanor promised with a smile. “We may not all be the smartest here, but if we put our brains together, we can make it work.”

“Thanks, I appreciate it.” I really did. “Hey, you girls wanna come and have a movie night?”

“Sure! Just no Toy Story,” Danielle exclaimed. “Sorry… but Liam watches that way too much, I mean it’s cute and all but…”

“Yeah, we understand,” Eleanor laughed. “I’d love to come over, Amber! You still at Niall’s house, though?”

“Yeah, I don’t have any other house,” I replied with a shrug. It wasn’t as bad as it sounded, we slept in different rooms. Niall got the master, and I got the second biggest room. We barely saw each other, other than when I took a break from my studies and he had a day off from work.

“Okay, sounds good to me,” Perrie replied as she slurped up the rest of her dessert. “When do you want us?”

“Umm…” I looked at my iPod for the time. It was only ten in the morning. I still had to clean up the house and go shopping for food. “How about any time after three?” They all agreed, and then I excused myself to get the house in order.
