Rylie is homeless. Has been all her life, to be exact. She lives in an alleyway next to a Starbucks, in a busy street of New York.
One day, someone kneels before her, wad of money in hand. That same boy ended up being her boyfriend.
He is her angel, her lifesaver.

1. Chapter 1

Rylie's P.O.V

I pulled the hood of my old hoodie over my head, the cold air starting to come around. My feet covered in old beat-up coverse scruffed against the concrete of the sidewalk. People around me started pulling umbrellas out, some talking into their phones. I stuffed my hands in my hoodie pocket and shivered, I was only wearing a hoodie with holes and a pair of old denim skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees.

Underneath my oversized hoodie I had and oversized university tee. With a sigh, I looked up at the sky, gray clouds rolling in, and rain droplets starting to fall. I looked back down and continued my way to my beloved home. An alleyway. I turned the corner, a small starbucks coming into view. Someone walked past me, bumping into my shoulder. "Excuse me," he quickly said and scampered off.

I got to the alleyway and sat down, pulling the blanket I kept in my bag over me. Yeah, I have a bag, with a purple ink stain in the corner and it contains all my belongings. Pathetic. I know. My mouth watered as I though about a nice, hot coffee. I watched the rain splash onto the concrete, people running all over.

I put my knees to my chest and rested my chin on them, watching the rain. I felt my eyes droop, and I ended up closing my eyes.

When I woke up, the stray german sheperd puppy that sometimes sticks with me cuddled at my side. I smiled and slowly sat up, picking up the puppy and wrapping him up in a blanket. I cuddled him in my arms, gently rocking him back and forth. The rain had passed, that's a good thing.

His deep brown eyes soon opened wide, and he whimpered. I smiled at the pup, gently patting his head. "Hey buddy. How does some water and food sound?," I asked him, th small puppy soon jumping out of my arms. I giggled, getting a rope and tying him to the post. "Okay, stay here, I'll get us some food." He barked, wagging his tail and jumping around happily.

I smiled, then pulling my hood down, opening the door to the small coffee shop. I went up to the front of the line, no one was there, thankfully. Tamra was already there, she's the only living person I know. "Hey," I said to her. She looked up and smiled. "How've you been?," she asked. I shrugged. "I don't know. Same old." She laughed quietly, before grabbing a pad and a pen.

"Your usual?," she asked. "Yeah." I heard the bell of the door do it's signature ring, a slight breeze following, and five teenage boys laughing as they went to take their booth. One looked at me, he had blue eyes and curly hair. He smiled at me, his eyes turning a dark jade color. I just gave a small smile and looked away. Tamracame back and handed me a small coffee, two donuts and a cup of water.

A donut for me, and one for Tommy. Tommy is what I named the puppy. He gets the cup of water and of course I get the coffee. I stepped out of the warm coffee shop and sat back in the alleyway, placing everything down and untying Tommy.
