A short poem about home. Sorry I haven't written for a while.

1. Home

Moccasin slippers sit by the door,

A dressing gown hangs behind,

The room glows a dim yellow light,

Shadows dance defined.

Mother’s sewing kit,

Sits below the mahogany table,

Shelves lined with books,

Michael Morpurgo and Aesop’s fables.

The dog lies lazily,

Warming the same spot on the floor

The old comfy armchairs,

And the subtle cozy décor.

Thick wooden beams

Support and enhance the ceiling

The clock chimes 4 o’clock

Cue the kettle squealing.

Tink, tink, tink,

Spoons stir the tea.

Hands and heart are heated

Two sugars for me.

A soft carpet underfoot,

A roaring orange fire,

The candle lit windows,

All makes a home to admire.
