A Ghost Town

**For the Perfect Places writing competition**
Thomas Sanders and the 'Sanders Sides' go on a little adventure to an old ghost town.

1. Highway 191

"Does everyone have everything they need," Thomas stated putting a small bag in the car.

"This will be exciting," Roman proclaimed. They finished packing everything they need. It was Roman's idea in the first place to go to Hiawatha. It was an old ghost town Utah and no very many people knew about it. They would all be gone for the whole day so they made sure to pack lunch, bring a camera, and any other supplies that might be needed.

"Why do we have to go?" Virgil asked. It's not like he didn't want to go, he just heard too many stories about that strange town.

"It'll be fun" Patton smiled setting a camera in their vehicle. Patton saw this as a bonding trip. A way for everyone to spend time together as a family.

"But haven't you heard of that place." Virgil cautioned. He watched as everyone else got into the car.

"I agree I've done lots of research and strange things happen there," Logan remarked. Roman stopped what he was doing and looked at the two persona's/

"Who cares, it's an adventure of its own," Roman exclaimed. Virgil rolled his eyes and Logan sighed. Patton was in the passenger seat and Thomas was the driver. Roman got in followed by Logan then Virgil.

"I still say this is a bad idea," Virgil expressed. He could think of a couple reasons why this was a bad idea. He was Thomas' anxiety. It was his job but that didn't make it any easier.

"How long will it take to get there?" Patton inquired. They were on the road for no more than five minutes.

"We have about three hours," Logan replied looking at his phone.

Virgil took out his headphones and turned on his playlist. He already decided that he was going to ignore everyone for the hours that it took to get there. He looked out the window watching the scenery pass by eventually falling asleep.

"I'm so excited," Patton smiled.

Thomas chuckled at the bubbly figure.

"At this next exit turn onto highway 191," Logan said looking at the GPS. Thomas nodded.

They kept driving on. Virgil sat up and looked around completely clueless as to where they were.

"How much longer?" Roman whined. He was ready to get out and explore.

"About another hour," Came the reply from Logan. Virgil, Patton, and Roman all groaned.

"Does anyone want to get out and stretch for a couple minutes?" Thomas asked everyone.

"That would be acceptable," Logan responded. Thomas acknowledged Logan's answer by pulling off to the side of the road.

Patton was the first one out along with Virgil, Roman and Logan followed shortly after.

Patton opened up the front-facing camera and turned his back towards everyone to get the picture. After getting a few he put his phone away smiling.

"Alright, everyone time to get back in. We still have an hour until we get there," Thomas informed them. Everyone piled into the car.

"Thomas would you like to take a break from driving," Logan questioned. "I'd be more than willing to drive the rest of the way."

"Alright," Thomas agreed. Logan got into the drivers seat and they were back on their way.
