5. ~ 4 ~

I woke up the next morning to someone rubbing circles on my back.

“Mmmm Luke?” I said without open my eyes.

“Nice guess love but no,” the person said. My eyes shot open and I quickly got off the bed.

“Who the fuck are you?” I said going into my defensive mode.

“The name’s Calum,” he said smiling and holding his hand out. He’s oddly nice.

“Roxy,” I said shaking his hand.

“I just came here to tell you that the boss man wants to take you to dinner tonight,” Calum said.

“Ok?” I said but it came out more like a question.

“Yeah well I better get going,” he said and started to head to the door.

“Wait… Calum?” I said and he turned around nodding.

“That’s my name love don’t ware it out,” he said winking and I giggled.

“Why are you guys so nice to me? And how come Luke hasn’t killed me yet?” I questioned. He let out a low chuckle and sat on my bed patting the spot next to him. I sat criss cross style faced towards him.

“I’m going to be honest, when we knew who you were we instantly wanted to kill you because you are a Jones, but after finding out that you ran away at 10 we had other things in mind, for instance keeping you alive,” he said.

“As for being nice, a lot of us around here are nice. We may be tough on the outside but we’re teddy bears on the inside. Ashton more than anyone else. That tough look he puts on is just for show. But Roxy, we’re good people…well at heart anyways. We do bad things but only to bad people who deserve it. We don’t kill innocent people but we also to leave any loose ends,” he said.

“I don’t get it Calum. He put his hands on me, not like that but he choked me,” I said tearing up again.

“Come here Roxy,” he said opening his arms and I crawled to him just sobbing in his shoulder as he held me in his arms.

“Whatever happens tonight Roxy, and mark my words, trust Luke. He will keep you safe no matter what,” Calum said.

“You guys don’t even know me yet you’re being so kind… why? You know who I am and where I come from,” I said quietly.

“You’re a fighter Roxy, literally and metaphorically. Yes, you’re a Diablo. But I’m all reality, I don’t think you’re an actual devil. Yes I don’t know you, but you’re easy to read and I believe you’re the key to Luke’s stone cold heart,” he said and I let out a small giggle.

“Thank you Calum,” I said pulling away from his hold.

“Don’t mention it Roxy. Literally. Luke will shoot me between my damn eyes,” he said and I giggled.

“Go get ready Roxy. The boss man wants you down there fully dressed at 5:30 sharp,” he said kissing me on the forehead then walking out the door. I sighed and looked at the clock on the night stand. 3 o’clock. I shrugged and went to the bathroom to take a shower. When I got out I dried myself off and realized I had nothing to wear. I slapped myself on the forehead and walked into the room. It’s like someone heard my thoughts. On the bed there lied a skin tight, black, lacy, halter dress with some makeup, things for my hair, perfume and deodorant, and black lacy stilettos. There was a note on it.

“Hope you love this, xx Calum,” I read aloud. I smiled and took the dress to the bathroom and put it on. It fit perfectly and showed off my figure. It was beautiful. I did my hair which was 2 dutch braids going into a half up half down style. Then I did my make up which was pretty much full cake. I walked back into the room and saw that it was almost time for me to get going so I walked downstairs to find Calum, Luke and two other guys standing right by him. One had dyed hair and the other had curly hair. Luke’s back was to me so he didn’t see me but when Calum saw me he turned around and just stared at me weirdly.

“Roxy meet Michael and Ashton,” Calum said gesturing to the guy with dyed hair and the other guys with curly hair. I waved awkwardly. I say Calum give them a nudge signaling to say hi.

“Hi I’m Michael,” the one with dyed hair said. He nudged the other one which was Ashton if I remember correctly.

“Hi. Fucking diablo,” he said mumbling that last part but I still heard it. I felt tears form in my eyes and I ran outside. I don’t want to be associated with the Diablos. I didn’t choose this life and I never wanted to be in it either. I sat on the outside stairs and tried not to let the tears ruin my make up. I stared straight ahead at the beautiful garden in front of me until I felt the presence of someone. I looked over and saw it was Calum.

“I’m sorry about Ashton back there Roxy. He’s a bit… well… unforgiving sometimes,” Calum said.

“What do you mean by unforgiving?” I asked him and he stayed quiet.

“Whatever, I get it. I’m a Diablo. I’m not to be trusted,” I said rolling my eyes and getting up.

“No Roxy it’s not that it’s-” he started to say before Luke came out and interrupted him when the limo pulled up.

“Get it the damn car Roxy. We’re going now,” Luke said walking in between me and Calum grabbing my wrist in the meantime. His grin started to tighten a bit as we approached the car.

“Ow Luke! Let fucking go of me you’re hurting me!” I cried out.

“Just get in the car,” he mumbled letting go of me and getting in first. I sighed and got it shutting the door behind me. There was a mini bar in this limo so I decided to take a couple drinks. I poured me some 2 shots of tequila and drowned them.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Luke shouted taking the tequila bottle away from me.

“I’m drinking! Isn’t it damn obvious?” I said trying to take the bottle back but he placed it out of my reach.

“You can’t get drunk tonight. This dinner is important,” he said to me while handing me a gun. I looked at him before taking it.

“So important that I need a gun huh? What am I working for you now?” I said raising my eyebrow.

“As if I’d want a Diablo working for me,” he said looking out the window.

“You know what?! I’m tired of you guys calling me a fucking Diablo. Call me whatever you want but never, EVER call me a damn Diablo again. I may have Diablo blood running through my veins, but I’ll never be one of them,” I said angrily. Luke looked at me shocked.

“Why do you hate them? They’re practically your family,” he said intrigued.

“I hate them because… oh look we’re here,” I said as the car stopped in front of a restaurant. I got out of the car and waited for Luke to get out too. He escorted me inside to a private table for four. I looked at Luke confused.

“Four seats when there’s only two of us?” I said confused. Luke came over to me and put his arm around my waist as two people walked in. I looked at them and made eye contact. I felt a lump in my throat and looked up at Luke to give him the death glare and he looked down at me annoyed and squeezed my waist tightly in a harsh way. He leaned down to my ear and whispered me to go say hi and he pushed me away. I hesitated but slowly walked to the two people.

“Hi mom. Hey dad…”
